AC lines

Just took delivery on a new EX. Under the hood on the passenger side by the heater ACbox there are four hard AC lines. One goes into the box, one has the big hex nut on it and goes to the left of the box, and then the other two go up and over the box to the right. Those two lines are cut! Why would someone cut these lines? Are these the rear AC lines? WTF??

I would guess that the rear a/c developed a leak and a preveous owner didn't want to spend the bucks to fix it. Stop at your local fix it shop and get a quote on repairing the rear a/c and then it all my be clear!

They were cut with some kind of blade saw....maybe sawsall. The lines on the compressor side are pinched shut and welded shut to seal them off. I guessing the same thing that JD mentioned. Developed a leak and didnt want to pay.

I know it impossible to give an amount to fix it without assessing the situation but are we talking big bucks to fix it??

Thanks!

Chad

Chad my buddy went through an issue with his rear lines for his X and it was a nightmare for him. He spent more then I would have ever wanted to to get t right. MAybe if you know someone that would make it a lot better. Definately shop around but find someone who knows AC units very well. Not just some run of the mill mechanic who says sure I will take care of it and learns on the job and your cost. Not sure wherre you are living but i can say here in NJ and with a black x I dont want to be driving without my ac. Did it one year and I was miserable. It is like a big trailer with no air. Hot as all hell unbless you roll down all the windows and then you cant hear anyone or your selg even think. Keep us posted on it.

I would think that an AC shop could pressurize the lines with a dye or trace element and use a black light or a sniffer to find the leak.
