Wow...I would think going from A/T to manual would be a monster job. You'd need a clutch plate for sure, and probably a different flywheel. You'd have to cut a hole in the cab floor and butcher your steering column.. Personally, I would just get another A/T, get it running to sell it, and find the truck you want.

you will have to get a flywheel and clutch for your 460.you will needs pedels, remove and cut your doghouse cover,I think the adapter between tranny and case is different, and your driveshafts I believe are different lengths too,
and to answer your question there are a couple different types of 4 spd trannies,I'm sure someone will chime in here soon enough to tell you what they are,and what one is best.

your best bet would be to find a donor truck to get all the pieces you need

alright thanks that sounds like a lot more than what i feel like getting into for now. so i will just stick to auto for now. but im gonna need to fix this one. it screams when i put it in reverse it almost sounds like gears grinding but i dont think its that bad, but something not grabbing. and it does the same noise when i go over like 30mph and let off the gas. and sometimes it slips and does that when im getting on it. is it gonna be worth fixing or should i try to get a new one cheap?

thanks alot for the help

Tranny swap

If you want to do it- than go ahead- I can hook you up with a guy who can sell you everything you need. To swap you will need: Tranny, crossmember support, flywheel to replace your flexplate- engine backing plate, remove your pilot bearing, clutch pivot assembley, clutch pedal and adjusting rods+ plug cooling lines at rad or buy one for a manual trans. It sounds more complicated than it really is, but it is really not that hard. Or- replace the C6- easy- and easy to find.

As stated earlier its not as hard as it sounds especially if you can find a donor truck. Ive done this before and if you can change a motor then you can do this. If it where me ide go with the swap but im not a big fan of automatics to begin with.
