mirror swap question.

I searched and didn't find it. I am picking up a set of heated mirrors with blinkers. I curently have heated mirrors w/o blinkers. Is it a plug and play deal, or more involved? BTW, mine's an 04 and the blinker mirrors are from an 02.

I wouldn't see why you couldn't just tap into the turn signal from the front and run an extra wire.

These trucks don't all have the same wiring harness from the factory? I have the smaller mirrors with the red arrow built into the mirror and want to upgrade to the " real " super duty split mirrors.

I was hoping it was a plug and play deal, hoping that the wire was already in the harness that goes to the mirror, and it just simply doesn't do anything right now, but will work when the blinker mirrors were installed. I'll find out soon and let you guys know.

I see that the ones with blinkers have a flat, grey, rectangular plug. Anybody know what kind the heated power mirrors have?

it would make too much sense to keep that all the same wouldn't it. Typical stupid manufacturer move to save a few pennies.

your 04 has a flat rectangular plug in the door.. you are already set up in the mirror harness for power mirror, running/turn signals, and heat..those mirrors are not 02's.. if they were, they'd have a round plug IIRC.. you should be good to go..

pop off the sail panel(at top edge of door panel/A-pillar)..pop out the red reflector at the bottom of the door panel.. there's a screw behind it holding the panel on.. lift the panel straight up.. disconnect harness' as needed.. the mirror nuts only need to be a little more than snug..

Thats exactly what I was hoping to hear because I ditched the 02's and found a set on ebay for the same price with shipping from an 04 and in better shape. FWIW, these are the paddle style and have the blinker in them, not on the outside like the two posters. I know the two posters have a running/turn on the outside because my 05'work truck does. Does the blinker in the paddle style have running light too?

I have never seen a blinker in the paddle style. Are you sure they are OEM and not aftermarket? The paddle style has a single mirror and the towning style has two mirrors and may or may not have heat and/or lights.

If they do have lights, then they will have running lights and turn signal lights.

I asked a guy at work who replaced his paddle mirrors for the towing ones. He told me that the colored wires on the towing were different than the original paddles. He had to do the old wire to wire and figure it out. He said about 45 minutes or so.

No, I just won them late last night. I pulled my master switch panel off the drivers door today and saw the connector for the mirror, it was the flat grey one. I should be in business.
