D-24: Difficulty going into High range 4wd
The transfer case in my 64 F100 (D-24) has never gone into high 4 too easily, but last time I tried, (last spring or summer) it went right in. Last Monday, when I really needed it, I couldn't get it to go in. It goes into 4 low, in and out of neutral, and back into 2wd without a problem, but when I try to pull it back into 4 high, no luck. I've tried rocking back and forth with low and reverse with the tranny and trying to "unload" the gears, playing with the clutch, and trying to pull the transfer case into 4 high with the truck rolling and the clutch in. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas on this?

had the same problem on a 78 3/4 ton 4x4. it was because i never used the 4x4, or atleast not much. i started taking it in and out alot while setting in the driveway or whenever.
worked for me but my mechanical knwledge it limited so..
