Hey Guys, I was looking under the hood of my F100. I noticed that the center line of the motor is not on the center line of the truck. With the hood up when you look dead on from the front the motor is off to the passenger side by about 2 inches. This is my first truck I've owned of any kind and I've worked on alot of both cars and trucks as a mechanic. I just never noticed a motor off center. The truck runs and rides just fine. I really don't intend to fix anything that ain't broke unless it gives me trouble. I've had the truck for about 2 years and just noticed it today. Any input would be apprieciated. Thanks in advance. Mark
Hey, nothing to worry about. I've got a 1978 ford bronco and the motor sits about 2 inches to the passenger side also. I think ford did that to help clear the steering column and power steering box or linkages. Not possitive, but my best guess anyway. Rob
All ford pickups, and many other cars and trucks, are like this, I've always thought it was because on a FORD rearend, the ring gear is pretty well in the very center, this means that the centerline of the pinion shaft is positioned a couple inches on the passenger side , off center. steering column clearence would make sense too thogh
