7.3 will not crank

7.3 will not crank
Well I jumped in my Ex this afternoon, turned the key, it acted like it wanted to crank and even turned over once. When it did crank it started making a romping sound. What might this be?

some truck's like to romp..some have found synthetic oil to stop it...my truck has never romped but our T444E IH role back does romp..i find when it romps to hit the the go peddle quck and it stops romping and she idles fine..

Well I guess I will have to show my wife and tell her I need to get a tune so it will not keep doing it
