Hello all, I have a 390 with a pointless distributor (motorcraft). Coming off the distributor is a 3 wire female prong which attaches to a 3 wire male prong. Coupled with this wiring is a male 4 prong and the old 3 wire which attaches right to the rear of the cab. I have been unable to locate the correct ignition module (all have a 4 and 2 wire setup) to hook this unit together. I believe I am missing something, like a wire or maybe a smog module ?? which then attached to the ignition module? I don't have the old setup for reference which would cure all this. Anybody know if I can use a standard ignition module by rigging wires ??
Hello all, just want to say I have found the needed reference to complete this task !! Went out to MSD ignition home page and they have my particular setup documented (with pictures too !!).
The web site that shows a diagram is:
www.martelbros.com/msd/support/23.htm Very thankful for this info they have; but the best pricing I have found is at summitracing.com Not trying to hurt or advertise anyone by saying this though.
Sounds like you have a late 74 or a 75 system. In the three prong female conector, is there a blue wire? If so, it's a early system. Determin that and post the results.
