Has anyone replaced their faulty door actuators with ones off of ebay? I have found a seller that will sel me 5 for $85 shipped because I am buying 5. I know you can fix your own with tin foil but I am afraid I am not that smart. Thanks

I bought one from an eBay auction just to have in case I couldn't fix my existing actuators. I ended up installing it in the first door I took apart so I could have some time to make sure I got the fix right. In the end, I fixed four and replaced one. All work great. And I have a home-rebuilt unit waiting for the first failure.
The fix is really very easy. There is a detailed post somewhere in the archives here on FTE. Not sure you want to use foil. I think the best fix really only costs you a penny...
Fixing my actuators was one of the first things I had to do when I bought my Ex. It really is an easy fix. Shoot the hard part is removing the things not fixing them. Buying one and fixing the bad one sounds like a plan to me. If you didn't have the time to do them all at once you could R&R at you leisure that way! Good luck, John
You can do it!. I bought 2 off Ebay and then decided to do the fix after I found out they wouldn't allow the locks to be worked by hand at all. The jerk wouldn't take them back so I gladly gave them 2 bad feedbacks.
