Hey guys, I'm the proud new owner of a 75 f 250 dually with a utility bed that at one point in time was owned by the dept. of forestry and used as a brushfire truck. I bought this truck about a month ago and it was sold as a F350 dually, but when I got the title it said it was a F250. The odom says it has just under 55,000 miles and the wear and tear on the body backs that up. The doors open and close perfectly, glass is all in great conditon, and it rides like a dream. It has a 360 with an automatic trans. and both the engine and tranny seem to be in great running condition, except for the fact that it seems like every gasket and seal is leaking on the engine. Also it is still equipped with the extra battery and alternator for the light bars. I understand that ford did not make a 3/4 ton dually, and it appears that i have a real dually axle and not just adapters and hubs. The title states that it is a f250 and under the model it says UTIL and the vin# is F37YUX41023. I'm guessing that the truck came from the factory with an utility bed and since the bed appears to have been meant for a dually I was wondering if it was possible that the government special ordered this truck as a f250 dually, or if it is more likely that it had a different bed?
The "F3" indicates a F350, the truck probably came from the factory as a cab and chassis, and the utility bed was added afterwards.
Someone most likely swapped the emblems to F250 for whatever reason.
I'd check your VINs on the sticker and your title though to make sure they all match.

Welcome to FTE
F37 = F350 Super Cab Cab & Chassis.
Y = 360 2V.
U = Louisville KY Assembly Plant.
X41023 = 1975.
If the truck has a 6 digit DSO, it could have been ordered with a Utility Bed. Ford would have sent the truck to an outside body manufacturer to have the Utility bed installed after the truck left the assembly line.
After the body was installed, the truck would have been shipped to the city where the Ford District Sales office was located...where the original selling dealer ordered it from.
The first two digits of the DSO...when decoded, will give the District Sales Office info.
The DSO is located on the Warranty Plate, found on the left door face below the latch,
This plate also has codes for the W.B. (wheelbase), COLOR, MODEL, BODY, TRANS, AXLE & GVW(R).
btw: Ford didn't offer an F250 with dual rear wheels until 1985.
Hey guys, thanks for all the info. I completely understand that Ford did not produce a dually F250, but my TITLE actually states that it is a F250 but has a vin for a F350 so basically I'm just trying to figure out where the discrepancy is on my vehicle. It appears that I actually have a F350, but that at some point in time a typo has occurred on the title and now it states that it is a F250. Honestly it doesn't matter if it is a 250 or 350, I absolutely love the truck and was just trying to figure out what the deal with the title was. And yes, as far as I can tell this truck is just about all original and has not been frankensteined.
