hey guys, i have a 2009 f350 lariat, whats the procedure for pulling stock radio out? does the front dash cover pop off or are there screws holding it on. how about the radio itself? going to be swaping a stock 6 disc premium radio for the new stock navi. also need to get to the steering wheel controls? it is suppose to be a plug and play swap. lets hope so
thanks charlie,,,
there are two screws, one located under each of the removeable lower corner panels (on the left, the cig lighter...on the right, the AUX in). A small flat tool will help you pull those two panels out. Plastic is better, but metal works if extremely careful.
From 6-CD to Navi might not be as simple as plug and play, but I cannot forsee anything you are missing other than the GPS reciever... I'm not sure if wiring will already be run for that or not.
As for adding the steering wheel controls, It might depend on what you've got already. Do you have cruise control already?
if not, are there removeable panels on the left and right of the steering wheel? I looked into adding the reduntant audio controls to my pickup, but ultimately determied that i would not be able to without buying a new tilt-steering column setup with cruise control and audio controls. ...but I might be wrong
charlie- you may end rewiring a couple wires @ clockspring haeness. not a big deal but make sure you got the right wires b4 you cut them. Ask your local ford dealer for the info they got me all my mine. Also have to find the location for gps antenna, I think you get different parts then when from factory. I have the worhshop manual and there is different parts when it arrives. Simple install though- good luck
thanks for the info guys!!!! my truck has steering wheel controls left side =cruise and right side= radio controls, sync, phone, should get navi kit in mail tuesday will try swap out any more info you guys have would be great.
