If anyone can give me some insight, I'd kiss them....well not really...but ...I have an 01 E-250, 4.2l....slowly got worse and worse..no power...gulping gas...can't get out of it's own way...exhaust manifolds turn red, no codes, backpressure tested, and there is no backpressure, so the exhaust being plugged is out...can't figure what to do... new DPFE, MAF tests out OK..O2 sensors failed with a ST-05 O2 sensor testor, but I can't see them causing this problem......Has anyone run into this before???I read somewhere about an intake TSB w/new bolts...It runs smooth as a baby"s but otherwise, but NOOOOO POWER!!!!!!! forgot to mention...new computer...no change!!
Exhaust is turning red hot? sounds like you are running WAY lean.
Surprised it hasn't destroyed itself.
Your problem is a bit much to throw ideas around. I'd say you need to get it to somebody who knows what they are doing and start a methodical process of diagnosing / ruling out.
Are you losing gas before it gets into the engine?
A leak could account for the gulping gas as well as a lean condition causing the exhaust to glow red. Just a thought.......
