Heres the skinny...

F25= F series 2WD pickup truck 3/4 ton
D= 352 V8 engine, 2bbl carb
K= Kansas City Assembly plant
678108= April 65 build date

WB 129= long bed Styleside truck
L= Holly green esterior color
381= Interior trim color(green base model truck) 81= 81A= standard model, Custom cab models will have a letter/s for the interior trim code(1st one or two characters depending on trim code) and the Body(81 would most likely have a B after the 81 number.
N= NP435 4 speed trans
24= 4.10 rear end gears, non Traction Lok, Dana 60
GVWR 7500= max load trucks rated for including people cargo and truck in pounds
cert Net Hp= 172 @ 4000 RPM...engines power rating at shown speed.
air cleaner will say 208HP if the oil bath is still there with the decal.
DSO= 52094= a special order truck...52= Des Moines, Ia , the remaining digits is its special order number ..typically there are 4 numbers though.

(sigh) Your memory needs refreshing as we hashed this out over the phone one night when you gave someone this same info.

F250 decodes to F250 2WD period! This does not mean it's a pickup.

It could be a Styleside or Flareside pickup. Or it could be a Cab & Chassis, or a Platform & Rack, or a Platform, or a Cowl & Windshield, or a Chassis & Cowl.

Wrong..again. Where exactly did you come to the conclusion that the 129" wheelbase was only used for a long (8') Styleside bed?

It could be a Styleside, or a long bed Flareside, or a Cab & Chassis, or a Platform & Rack, or a Platform, or a Chassis & Cowl, or a Chassis & Windshield.

And...to clarify...81 is the body style for a conventional cab ONLY. It does not take into account what the back of cab equipment is.

The body style for a Styleside pickup bed is 99, for a Flareside bed, it's 83.

Correct you are about the F25 note...My bad...I did think about the 'pickup' too before I typed it...damnded if I can figure out how I forgot the other versions available.
As for the wheelbase info...heres the skinny for F250 trucks courtesy of the Ford salesman book I have for 1966.

Wheelbases on F250 Stylesides were 129 and 120...the 120 is the 4WD version with the 'wrong' 57-60 type box, single wall construction vs the double wall Styleside box used on the 2WD version.

The Flaresides wheelbase options were 129 and 120 as well. The 129 is used on the 2WD . The 120 was used on the 4WD only.

The Chassis-Cab models were also the same wheelbase choices. 129 was for F250 and 120 was for 4WD and were 120" wheelbase.

Theres no notation designating of 2WD only regarding the wheelbases...its shown only as F250. The 4WD were shown as F250 4x4.

F25 is correct for a 3/4 ton 2WD truck...Y is the 1966 code for the 352 engine. it wasnt used in 65

S and H are the assembly plants..S= Pilot Plant...Dearborn as i recall is where it is/was...
H is Lorain assembly in Ohio I believe...

Don, your eyes must be affected with bad case of Squire-itis. Take a gander at these partial VIN's...again.

Also notice what it sez below this users name. These partial VIN's pertain to a 1977 F250. The newbie asked this question in the wrong forum.

Since the 5th digit of the VIN is the assembly plant code, there is no such thing as F25SY or F25HY

What assembly plant uses a Y code? None, it's prolly a V

The following is the only thing that makes any sense:

F25SV = 1977 F250 2WD pickup w/a 400 2V engine, assembled at the Kentucky truck assembly plant.

F25HV = 1977 F250 2WD pickup w/a 351M 2V engine, assembled at the Kentucky truck assembly plant.

Why doesn't the VIN on the registration match the VIN or the Warranty Plate? It's prolly the same old story, the original left door has been replaced by a used door.

btw: Your Squire arrived today, and that's just ducky. Here in LA LA Land, a Basset Hound puppy arrived here today.

She has more energy than the other four Bassets combined....not to mention their master.
