c6 4x4 help/questions
now it was used for plowing (4x4)and the guy i bought it from said it was either
a new/rebuilt/re manufactured trans of some sort he wasn't sure i have drove it 2 thousand miles now and now it makes this weird tapping noise in the flywheel, torque converter area i was wondering if anybody knew what it might be? also the shop it was in removed the skid plate/cross member to refill fluid so maybe that had something to do with it when its in D it stops tapping, runs n drives fine???
also i have manual lock out hubs and i was wondering in what order should i lock them out and can i leave it in 4x4 when not running(overnight) i have never owned a 4x4 or a plow before...

It doesn't matter what order you lockout your hubs. T-case or axles first. Just lock them and put the t-case in 4x. It doesn't hurt to leave it locked and in 4x either. Just remember to unlock and put it back in 2x when your driving down the road a good distance.
cross member/skid plate removed to refill transmission fluid, i think i hear a droning
type of noise when i slow down in 4x4 but it might be me 4x4 works fine???
I'm trying to find oem wheels with skinny tires b/c these 33's aren't great in snow
(street tires not mudders, swamppers boggers etc) I'm plowing with the truck...

as four the lock out hubs are you telling me i cant go 4x4ing on the highway
even if its just 45mph?
what is the road conditions are bad?
Its not advised because its too easy to lock up all 4 tires when you hit the brakes. As soon as the rears lock you could easily slide out of control. That is why there are no full time 4x4 vehicles on the road. They make them either on demand at slower speeds or AWD with a differential of some sort in the t-case.
And that drone sound is probably the t-case. Its normal. BTW, what year and what truck do you have?
