Intake leak?

I replaced my stock heads with gt40 heads on my 1988 302 last summer. Ran good for a while, but eventually started bogging down during accelleration. Went thru 3 different pairs of plugs, checked the timing 10 different times. Now for the past month its been chattering. You can hear it in the cab, but no so much under the hood. its almost like the spark plugs firing out of control, but the engine seems to be running smoothly. At times during idol it will go thru a cycle vroom.vroom...vroom........vroom.............vroom then come back to idol, but when its dying it makes that chatter sound. It doesnt make the chattering noise while accelerating or driving, but at times it will seem to "catch" and need to press even harder on the gas pedal to even make it accellerate.

I already have the gasket kit, along with rubber valve cover gaskets, copper exhaust gaskets and locking header bolts.

Is there any sensor I should check/replace while I am at it?

thanks,
Josh
