So every once in awhile when i haven't started my 2000 5.4L for a few days, i'll start it up and it makes sort of like a grinding noise from what sounds like the far corner of the glove box or that region. It makes the noise for about two to three seconds and then it goes away. If i turn the truck off, and then start it again, no noise. Any ideas?? And another one that just started today, it was about 5 degrees outside this morning which is the coldest its been since i've owned the truck. I started it up and from what sounded like the drivers side front end there was a whining noise, like a supercharger almost, for about twenty seconds. Then later on today when it'd been sitting awhile it did the same. Anybody else have that??
My V10 did that last year.
It only did it some times when it was very cold and I never found out what it was.
What oil is in it?
I was running 10w40 with a fram last winter.
A couple month ago I went to ford 5w20 and wix filter.
It is cold again and the noise has not come back.
I think the noise was something running dry.
I did not know better at the time and was just using the same oil in my V10 and 460.
Yes, very good quality. I have never heard of anybody running their oil and filters unhappy with them.
If you want better you can use mobile one, but it is not worth the cost IMO.
As far as the filter, the Wix filters( slightly) better and flows ( slightly) more and is only $3 bucks more than fomoco. That is what I run one my v10.
