Hesitation -- HELP!?!

I have a '77 F-150 with a 351M. My problem is that my engine shuts off while driving and then starts back up again (most of the time) so we have a mojor hesitation problem. I replaced the coil, module, fuel filter, air filter, checked all the plugs, fuel pump, cap & rotor, timing and sprayed the carb looking for leaks. I took it to 2 shops and they couldn't find the problem either. The strange thing is it does not do it all of the time ... just sometimes and then it does it for a long time... I also noticed that it is idling a little rough right now.

Rust in the tank?

Please help ... thanx

Hesitation -- HELP!?!

If you suspect a rusty tank, get a transparent plastic in-line fuel filter and install it between the pump and carb. Keep a close watch as to how fast it gets dirty. I had this problem and used two of these filters, one as stated and one at the tank. I changed the one closest to the tank 3 times and the one at the carb twice before the rust cleared up. The rust was causing the needle to not seal to the seat in the carb, i.e. Major flooding problems! If this turns out to be the problem, you should take apart your carb and clean it VERY well and rebuild if needed. Good luck!
