My 240ci in my 65 f100 1/2 t with manual trans has never been apart (according to the original owner). The block is black and the valve cover is black - the valve cover has a sticker on top which is too faded to read, and I would like to replace it when I rebuild the engine (whenever that may be - runs perfectly right now). Is this the proper color scheme for the valve cover for the 1965 240ci in a f100 2wd manual? Also, can anyone tell me what the sticker said and are replacements available? The sticker on the air cleaner says 240 and 150hp and I have found replacements for that sticker. Thanks. <!-- / message --> <!-- controls -->
I've been told that all engine from 1960 thru 1965 block & heads where black; the valve covers where various color to assited with quick Identication reason; If I recall right 240 cid where all black. But I sure others know with more acquire knowledge and age will know for sure. As for valve cover stickers prior to 66, I only seen things like V-8 of I 6 type design stickers; and only on the oil bath showing info about engine capacity and cleaning of filter.
Sorry not any more help than you already know.
In the early 70's I had two Econolines at different times. One was a '66 and the other was a '67. They both had 240's and they were both painted black, top and bottom. Steve

Mebbe the engines were swappped, because 1966 was the first year Ford painted car/truck engines Ford Corporate Blue...including the valve covers.
