Charging a trailer battery

I always thought there was a way to charge the battery on my race car trailer with the alternator on the truck but I'm not very "electrical smart". What is the easiest way to do this? I now just use a charger and charge the battery once a weekend when racing. I know this is possible just not smart enough to figure it out

You need at least a class 2 (7 pin) connector and install the batt charge relay
in the under the hood fuse panel.

I found a 12V hot lead tied up inside the 7 pin harness of mine. Looked like a factory job, the wire was there, just needed to be connected to the plug. Relay was already there on mine, hard to say how it got there as it had several owners before me.
