A neighbour is junking his old truck, and I am wondering if anything is worth the trouble of removing. Here's the specs:
240 six cylinder, 3 in the tree trans, 3.70 open diffy (according to the tag), 2WD. Rusty body but good front grille and bumper. The steering bo?) is creaking and clunking badly.
I'm curious what the diffy would be for this unit, 28 or 31 spline, 2 or 4 pinion?
The drivetrain seems quite sound, first gear synchro even works fine.
Grab the 240 head, getting hard to find those anymore and grab anything that looks like it could be in any sort of usable shape anymore. Chrome trime emblems dash and interior parts. The little parts are the real good pieces to find because they will nickle and dime you if you ever have to replace them.
Steering column, glove box door, glove box. Dash dezel and screws, door panels, window cranks, head light switch, hater fan motor, scuff plates if in decent shape. mirrors, emblems, tail gate, hood, fenders, grill, grill shell, rear, bumpers, rear view mirror, wheel covers, rims, original jack, light buckets, tail lights, side marker lights, just to name a few parts!!
PS: When your done, a buzzard should be impressed!!
PSII: Remember, when it is gone, it is gone for good, take advantage while you got the chance!! Who knows, if you can't use it, someone may be able to, and you can get a few $ to go towards what you do need.
PSIII: If rusty bolts are an issue, mix some ATF (any type) with acetone (50% mix) and spray on those rusty bolts while you work over other areas, and then it will be SO much easier to get those parts off!!
Thanks for those suggestions. I'm hoping to find a good home for it, and if not I like Tees' suggestion best. I am in a city so have to be a bit careful about stripping a vehicle in the driveway due to the Authorities cramping my style.
I had thought of the distributor as well, as points type are getting harder to find. The truck even comes with a spare window regulator although both windows work fine.
I think I'll grab the lock set as well.
Years ago my friend and I used to strip our old beater cars in the driveway until there was nothing left to unbolt, it was great fun and got us a few dollars as we sold the parts. We lived in low rent University student rental areas so there wasn't so much heat.
It's also darn cold to be stripping vehicles up here in British Columbia.

Yup, your right getting real cold to be foolin around outside in your area right now. Either find a home to keep it till it gets warmer, or get it inside to strip it if possible, or could you tarp it up for the winter, and get at it in the spring.
I wouldn't let ANYTHING good off it go to the crusher. I think those days are over, they are not that plentiful anymore.
