5.4 Engine Swap help needed! Help!

Hi, I am brand new to this site and I need some help with a f150 that I just bought. My 1999 F150 has a locked up 5.4 engine in it. I found a 1997 E150 van that I has a 5.4 in it and I could get it real cheap. Both vehicles are 5.4's with the vin charecter "L". My question is; will this engine from the van fit and work in the F150? Would the intake and the oil pan be the same? Would anything have to be swapped or transferred from engine to engine? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I really see no reason that it would'nt work. What parts that wont fit from the van can be swapped over from the truck. The oil pan could possibly be different, more than likely the intake piping is different.I would strip the van down to long block form and just drop it in using as much truck stuff I could (wiring harness,manifolds.....)

I've had just finished doing the swap in my 2003 f-150 4x4, I installed a 5.4 van motor.....it's in getting exhaust work done now and then getting tuned this week. what ever you do reuse the existing driverside manifold on the truck, you will have to change over the throttle body, and the exhaust tube connects to it to the throttle body.....that way your air box will still fit....and if it's 4x4 the front diffs in the way it you put the van manifold on it.....also you will need to make up a bracket for your throttle cable in front of the throttle body, van mounts diff. I had to change connectors in the harness (cop connections mostly)

let me know if I can help you anymore, Roy
