I've lost my keys for my 99 Ranger, my keys do not have the transponder. Called Ford to see If they could make another key using the Vin Number. They said they could but since the vehicle was over 10 years old that Ford no longer had the info on the Keys. Is there anywhere I can obtain this info with only the Vin Number?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I dont know about them having the transponder, but you can have it towed to ford, have them cut a key to open it then have the program the new key using the ford computers and the obd2 port. Does that get you what you need?
Thanks for the reply, what I'm trying to get is the info of the actual cut of the key. As I mentioned my keys do not have a transponder in the key for the truck to start. When I talked to Ford they told be my only option was a locksmith. That can be very expensive and what Im trying to avoid. Is there any other place where I can obtain this information.
Confused. But it might just be me. Were some 99s PATS equipped and some not? Mine is. I have had a key cut from the vin before but since I only had one key I had to have my second one programmed. Heck I had mazda cut one for my 94 mx6 with just the vin. Maybe try calling another ford dealer (the answers and prices from dealer to dealer are not always the same). But realistically, a locksmith is probably going to be cheaper than ford....just worried about the pats stuff having to be coded to make it run.
Oh yeah, and if you did not get it already, welcome aboard! Seems like there have been a lot of new faces lately and thats a good thing!
My Ranger is a 2.5 4cylinder 5 speed regular cab, and yes it does not have the PATS system. I guess either I have an odd ball, or some were equipped with Pats and some weren't. I'll try another Ford dealer and hopefully I'll get better results.
