Hello everyone, I need help diagnosing a problem that left us stranded in central illinois pulling a boat. We were driving highway and went to pass truck in front of us. When we went to pass truck in front of us the vehicle shut down and lost power steering. Guided it off to the side of the road and attempted to restart vehicle with no luck. Fuel pump? Fuel filter? Fuel gelling? Located in central illinois heading south from northern illinois and temperatures were mid 20's. Truck is a 2006 F350 with 90,000 miles. Please advise
After the obvious checks on fuel, check your electrical connections. Do you happen to have a tuner on your vehicle? I had a similar situation (complete shutdown) when I would go over severe bumps (made worse by towing) - turned out that my connection cable had wiggled enough to break the connection from my tuner to the egr valve. I just dabbed on some dielectric grease and used a small/thin cable tie around the connection (through the wires) to make sure it held together. Good luck!
I do have a hypermax mach 7 tuner for additional towing performance. I didn't think of that and will check that out. Where was the that exactly located at? Thanks!
What was wierd about this was it gave no indication prior to this happening, no performance loss or anything. I first suspected fuses but nothing was blown. I will double check electrical connections to see if anything is loose.
