hard start in cold Oklahoma??

Took a road trip to Kansas from Louisiana. My 05 f350 did great except for that morning. I went to start and it would not stay on after 2 tries. On the 3rd attempt I got on the pedal and fired Her up. Held the pedal for a few seconds now I'm back in LA. Anyone know what happened and how can I prevent it in the future?

I worked out of Tulsa for almost 2 years...and I never had any issues. Granted I did keep it plugged in during the winter since I was working on call (subject to head to work at all hours & short notice).

Block heater, may or may not have the plug behind the passenger side tow hook/eye. The block heater is there from Navistar but Ford stopped putting the cord on all truck with the '05 MY and later. It hasn't been that cold (yeah, it was something like 15 Saturday morning) that a truck wouldn't start and stay running if it was relatively healthy. When's the last time you serviced it? You can check out this thread to learn more about the block heater/cord:

Diesel Technician Society

If you need to get a cord...save yourself some $$$ and go to International and get it. Allot cheaper and just as good as the Ford part. Heck, the block heater is an International part in the first place.

As far as pretty country...Tulsa is okay; but I prefer Western/NorthWest Arkansas.

Northwest Arkansas is some really neat country. I live in central MO and had to go down there to get my F-350. I was amazed at how neat it was.

Off the topic. Man if you think Tulsa Oklahoma is pretty country you haven't seen much. I've lived in Oklahoma for 34 years and I haven't seen anything pretty about it except for around the poteau area. If you haven't been to the Rockies in Colorado you should see that. I'm in Spokane Washington now followed the Rockies all the way up here and you wanna talk about a pretty site. Montana is amazing. As forrest gump said "I couldn't tell where the earth ended and heaven began." Venture that way u only live once.
