Truck won't start

My 01' F250 won't start in park, but will when I put in neutral it will start and I am having trouble getting in park sometimes.

Sounds like there is something awary in your colum. Never tore one apart so I don't know what's wrong, so consider this a bump.

Welcome to FTE. I'd guess you either have a loose shift lever. If you unscrew the tilt lever, then remove 3 phillips head screws, the bottom half of the steering column cover will come off.

If it feels like there's slop in your shift lever, look under there for some screws to tighten up. Seems like they're torx fittings.

There is a neutral safety switch on the lever coming out of the tranny. If its getting hard to move the lever. That's where I would look. I just changed that on mine. Easy job and the part is like 40.00. Also like above some bolts holding the lever under dash work loose over time. A Curtis
