I think it's a real bear of a job. From what I've read you actually have to lift the engine to remove the pan.

Do you have a hoist and have you ever pulled a 4.6 or 5.4 before? If you know what you are doing it can be pretty easy.

After further inspection of the leak, it is at the back of the oil pan right infront of the transmission, is there any other way of sealing this minor issue? i dont know if additives would get ride of the leak. i actually just caught the leak the day it started leaking. i want to keep the truck in good working order. any help would be great thanks

Are you sure it is the oil pan and not the rear main seal?

Im pretty sure, it has been dripping of the bolts on the oil pan in the back weather that indicates rear main seal or oil pan i dont know,

Have you made sure the bolts are tight?

Really the only thing you can do is drive it like that or lift the motor up to change it out.

I have a 4.6 that has the same problem and I am just driving it tell I can pull it.
