More Flow ! Exhaust ???
Hit a goat over the head with a ball-peen hammer and he still might kick ya !!
Got a question about exhaust. 2000 Expy 5.4L, i am trying to save some bucks and was wondering if i could just cut my muffler off and install a free flow muffler than to go and buy a catback system ?? ?? I am thinking that this will do the same as a catback system, but only be cheaper. Any help would be great. Thanks

If the new muffler is indeed less restrictive than the stocker, naturally you'll produce better power/performance. How do you know how restrictive the stock muffler is? If I needed more performance out of my Expy, I'd run dual pipes/mufflers for true duals from the cats back.

Actually the cat-back has more advantages than just a less restrictive muffler. If you check out the stock pipe from the cat back, you will notice that it is tiny compared to what you can get from Gibson for about $300.00 or cheaper depending where you look.
A true mandrel bent 3" exhaust is monsterous compared to the stocker, which becomes quite restrictive in the bend points.
The reason I suggest Gibson is becuase they utilize the stock hanger points, and the installation is pretty simple.
Besides it sounds cool!!

Thanks guys, I went down to my local muffler shop and had them install a Dynomax free flow muffler. Sounds great and i can tell a noticable difference. I went that route because it is cheaper and there is nothing really wrong with my stock exhaust. Any suggestions on my next easy to install performance upgrade ? ? ? ?
I have installed a K N Air filter, and the muffler so far. ? ???
