At the age of 18 with help from my dad I bought a new 69 F250 4WD “Highboy” and for the next 35 years drove nothing but Ford Trucks. Five year ago I defected to a Chevy Colorado 4X4 and was never completely happy with it. Last Friday I headed to a local Mega Ford Dealer who had 30 F-150’s on his lot and almost went into overload trying to choose one. I finally decided on a 2010 Lariat Super Crew 4X4 with every option except navigation & moonroof. Here’s the deal I got so tell me what you think. I traded my 2005 Colorado 4 door, 4X4 with 38,000 miles, it was in average to good condition. The sticker on my truck was $45,320, they discounted the price to $37,500 including rebates, allowed me $13,500 for my Chevy which I paid around $20,000 for five years ago, for a difference of $24,000. State tax and title fees of $1,300 made the total difference of $25,300. I will say it was a good experience at the dealer, I never felt pressured and the paperwork process was very quick and easy. I’m one happy Ford owner and glad to be back.
Welcome home my friend... may you never stray again. I think the sticker price was a little high, but depends on what part of the country you live in.
I think you should be much happier with your f-150. Motor trend gave it 4 1/2 stars while the colorado got 2.
I think the dealer jacked up the sticker price. There is a certain dealer where I live that adds 3k to every sticker. My fx4 was 45k with nav and moonroof and everything else but running boards. The only way to be sure would be to build your exact truck on the ford site and see if the price matches. Still though you didn't do too bad. Congrats!
Guess I'm just spoiled... we get pretty good deals buying overseas... My wife went and test drove a platinum and the sticker was... are you ready? 55,000! holy crap! She just wanted to check out the legroom, ride height, etc and the dealer didn't have an FX4 for her to see, so he showed her a platinum. Of course, she didn't tell the dealer that I had already ordered one from overseas through the exchange... he thinks I'm going to buy one when I come home from Iraq.
I have the original window sticker and I also built it on the ford site and both are the same, It is loaded, Limited Slip 3.55, Chrome package, Lariat Plus package, Tailgate Step, 20" Chrome Wheels, Leather Captains Chairs, Msrp was $44,935 + $380.00 in Doc fees that they absolutely refused to cut any. With the rebates and discounts the price was 37500, that 20% off sticker. I included a picture of the window sticker. It's a little fuzzy but it's the best I could scan.
All I can say is WOW did they step up to plate on your trade !! If they gave you $ 13,500 for that Colorado you did BETTER then GOOD. That truck is the Number One rated used vehicle TO AVOID !! and thats by Consumer Reports. I can't believe you got more then 8K !! YES you got a great deal !!

The dealer can't create a new MSRP (window sticker) for any new never registered vehicle. The dealer can however add some aftermarket goodies, and post a separate sticker to tie the whole package togther. Factory price + dealer add-ons = final price.
I found a couple of pictures of the 69 “Highboy” and wanted to share how far Trucks have came in 41 years. The first picture was made not to long after I got it, I would guess 1970. The second picture was made in 1972 after a Major remodel of the whole truck. A tree hit the bed and I had to replace it, the one I found was taken off of a brand new ’72 “Sport Custom” it was blue and white and had all the chrome trim on it. So rather that try to remove all the trim I just bought all the trim for the cab, I also bought a new ’72 grill for the front and basically converted it to a ’72 with a ’69 title. I kept this truck until 1982 and sold it for more than I paid for it. I saw it a few years ago and tried to buy it back but the owner told me in short order it was not for sale, well maybe someday….

Anybody with a scanner and a computer can make a phony window sticker.
No man I believe you. At first I didn't know you had the
chrome package which is relatively spendy. I was merely responding to
Tim's comment. All I am saying is never trust the dealer, always do some
independent research, which you did.
