Does anyone have a set of measurments/plans for building a crossmenber and the location for installing a SBF (289 Hipo) in a 55 F-100? I have the truck down to the frame and need some help here.
I was hoping to fabricate my own instead of purchasing if possible.
I have to ask why you would want to do that. You can get the whole setup (cross member, pads, and bolts) for about $100. Unless you want a non stock height or have a non stock engine you will probably spend at least half that just in material not counting the time it will take you.
Basically because it free it I fabricate it. I have not cost for materials or labor.

There's a certain amount of satisfaction that comes with fabricating something useful out of odd stuff garnered from the junkpile instead of ordering it from a catalog. I used part of an old F-1 crossmember on one side and the side of a broken Chinese floor jack on the other. One hundred dollars saved on engine mounts means $100 extra to spend somewhere else where fabrication is not possible....
