I have a 2002 F-250 7.3psd, sometimes when I start the rig and I am sitting inside letting it warm up I hear a fairly loud CLUNK, the truck is not in gear mind you, not moving, and it seems to be coming from somewhere near the center of the pickup under the floorboards between the cab and bed area. I bought the pickup from a good friend of mine who got it brand new and he says it has done this since he got it new. Any ideas as to what it might be? does not do it every time, very spuratic.
Thanks,
Stroker Pilot
What you are hearing is the vacuum operated blend door for the heater, closing or opening. This is very common with these trucks. The vacuum pump is pumping vacuum once you turn the key on. Then when it reaches enough vacuum it will pull the door closed or open.
Hey thanks for the info, how come it is spuratic instead of happening all of the time?
I dont know but if it bothers you. If you center the control (to off) before you shut the truck off it wont do it on start up. It dosnt make a noise then
