Leak

Unless you have something unlike anything I've seen, your pump is separate from the block, so no it should not be an oil leak from the engine. A leaking fitting or the pump itself - yes that's possible. Check that you didn't forget a o-ring, seal, crossthread a fitting etc. That's where I'd start looking.

I jumped the gun a bit and your completely right...that area was covered in oil so after cleaning it good i see that it is not connected in any way...what is the problem is that where my timing chain cover is bolted to the head...the leak is coming from there...assuming its going to be the gasket because the bolt in that area is torqued properly and i do not see any cracks in the aluminum...thanks for your response tho...im a little hesitant to get into the job myself w/ the timing cover gasket tho..maybe its not as bad as im thinking but i may end up at the mechanics
