hi i am i think the odd man out here as my ideas are not mainstream ever. with that said i value my truck because it is a work truck not a race car i like to turn the key and go to work. i don't mind in fact i enjoy the maintenance that goes in to it but when push comes to shove my truck just needs to start and run right. and this is not to troll please don't flame at me.
is it better to just maintain my points or to go over to a solid state set up for my ignition? and please remember reliability and stock is what i am happy with.
I put a Petronix module in my distributor over twenty years ago. The trucks sometimes sits for months at a time, but always starts right up. Highly recommended.
Electronic ignition and the high volt coils = much easier starting. Translates into a longer, happier life for your starter. Less gas washing the oil off the cylinders due to extended cranking or flooding.
