All I can say is WOW! Some people get so wrapped up in the bidding process, they lose sight of what they're buying. I mean they sound like nice trucks, but those prices are way too high. When I go to an auction, I'm looking to get a deal on something. Esp with vehicles, you never know what the previous owner(s) did with their trucks, if they were maintained, and then you've gotta get 'em inspected and hope you don't get hit with a big bill there.

Well with most Farm estate auctions you do have time to look things over well in advance of the auction, if you so choose, along with talking to the owner.
All were lower mileage vehicles for the age and that carries some premium. All were XLT or Lariat with lots of options according to the post, so there was premium for that too. Also, in farm country they like the 7.3's. Still the prices were a little on the high side.
I'm wondering why these trucks have such low miles? Like maybe they were rebuilders...............who was selling them, a dealer? Sounds kinda fishy........t/m
Sorry, went back and checked out the link....looks like all that equipment went pretty high.....I can't explain it......t/m

Reason: I'm an idiot
The low miles must be from just using them on the farm.
Actually from not using them. Was told before the pickups sold, that they were cleaned up, from storage, and some had mice in them. The hummer must have because the radio didn't work, but was sent to a dealer to fix it before sale.
Would of been amazing to see. What was the story on why they didn't use anything? Those 3 CAT tractors didn't even have 200 hours combined. So different to see brand new 2 year old+ equipment.
I would say some of it was brought for tax write offs. Being it's said they had around 30,000 acres. Selling 21 quarters the 15th. Ony have one brother remaining.

I knew these farmers, quite interesting story here. 3 brothers, all single and now all deceased. I know there is at least 1 sister living yet. They owned about 157 quarter sections of land, loved farming and dogs. I heard that about 6 to 7 thousand people attended the sale. Vehicles covered several quarters of land. I do know a friend of mine got to the sale early and his bid no. was about 1500! Simply an amazing story.
I wish I would have thought of that yesterday, my brothers a pilot always looking for a reason to fly. I'll check around, I imagine one of the locals got one, although it was a very windy day. I wonder how that sale compared to other large farm type of auctions around the country? I heard someone say it was definitely the largest ever in sd.
