Thought you guys might want to see my project, its an 85 f150. Trying to make it into a nice daily driver and work truck yet. Tell me what you guys think, suggestions are always welcomed!
It actually sounds really good with the stacks, they are 4 inch dairy grade stainless. I got the left over pipe when they were building a new dairy parler at my friends farm. I just have two glass packs under it. Its loud when u want it to be and quite when u dont want attention, plus with the large pipe it doesnt pop or crackle hardly at all.
The rear fuel tank is getting replace with a 38 gallon one I got from a friend, new in the box. I just have to extend the pickup tubes on the sending unit.
would you be able to post some more pics were the flat bed mounts and more details about the flat bed. Im trying to draw up a plan right now and some more pics would help.
Ill see if I can dig up some pictures of flatbed mounting points. The alluminum flatbed bolts to a steel frame that has a gooseneck ball attached and then the steel framework bolts to the truck frame, all in all its pretty well built. I went back and forth on whether to put a box on it but Im going to leave it with a flatbed, as it really makes the truck look unique.
The paint color is called midnight blue pearl. It is pretty close to whats on the truck, but should look much better and grab alot more sunlight. We are also going to put 4 coats of clear on the truck to help give it a nicer shine and maybe prevent some deep scratchs that way.
hey that looks great. yeah if you can get more pics up when you get a chance that would be great.
Im sorta looking to do the same with my 82 f150. im almost done with the front bumper and then im goin to start on the flat bed. i dont think im goin to do stacks but definently true duals .
Looks great, I love the color, nice tire and wheel selection. I know those Firestone MTs aren't cheap, I used to work for Bridgestone/ Firestone when I got out of the service; what size are you going with? You pretty much are doing the same as what I did with my 84 F250 4wd, you can see all the build up pics and the finished product in my photo gallery... it's listed under "work truck". I too went with a flatbed, but mine is all steel; I wanted the weight for snow plowing. I noticed you have a tool chest on the front of the flatbed, I went with side mount style boxes on my truck. It makes easier access to the tools and gear I haul with me for work, it also allows me to haul longer items without the boxes interfering. I built a quick detachable mount for a vise on the driver's side back corner of the bed, a flatbed makes a great work bench for out in the field or at the jobsite. I am currently working on a set up for a lift crane to go on there as well. Looks great, keep the pictures coming!

Hey those are the rims I have on my truck right now. Those crager ones that you have with the BFG mounted on there. Why you changing tires?? Also how expensive was the paint? Sorry to drill you with questions thats just the color I have been looking for for a long time.
The tires are 33 1250 15 firestone m/t's I had the bfg's and they worked alright but I wasnt real impressed with them especially for the high price. My friend has the firestones and the do alot better and last a little longer. Plus a good friend of mine workes at firestone and was able to get me a pretty good deal on them. The chrome wheels that are on the truck were cheap and the chrome is pitted and rusty so Im just going to run them in the winter if i have to use the truck much. As far as the paint its PPG. One gallon of paint, Primer, Surfacer/sealer, and one gallon of clear was right at 500 bucks out the door. Which I didnt think was to bad. And im going overkill on it, we cleared the insides of the doors and the insides of the fenders and stuff just to try to cut down on scratches.
I wont be home untill next weekend but Ill get some more pictures of the bed then.
O to the guy with the steel flatbed, are u running boxes under the bed of the truck and if so where did u get them. I have been thinking of doing that but cant find any boxes that are shallow enough to work with my bed.
Thanks
Jon
