Definitely plan well in advance... 8 months to a year if you can. We booked our room last March, then got plane tickets on Southwest Airlines in July on the first day they opened up seats for November we wanted to fly.

After the crowds we experienced, I would not recommend Thanksgiving week. Folks we talk to said the week before Thanksgiving or the week after Thanksgiving would have been much better.

Of course, since you like the heat, you can go in August when it's 100 degrees with 100% humidity!

We were thinking like late January, or February. Get away from here when the weather is at it's worst!

That would be good... I really wish we would have done that, but we were trying to minimize the number of vacation days I had to take since I get so few.

Not sure how much time you had in the Navy, but check out Shades of Green® Resort on WALT DISNEY WORLD to see if you are eligible...

We were able to stay there since wifey is still active in the Reserves... a lot cheaper than any other on-resort Disney hotels.

Too bad, we are not eligible. I didn't actually retire from the Navy.

When I was a youngin', you could get a can of sprite for a quarter...

Back in those days, sierra was a mountain chain in California, and mist was a light rain shower... lol

And our trucks didn't have that fancy air conditioning, and all these new fangled buttons that roll the windows up and down and lock the doors......

Good morning Nebraska and all our great visitors! Well, temps are supposed to drop here today, guess we've put that off as long as we could.

On a higher note, we are finally putting fuel back into the pot here! Now just have to get this bucket of bolts back together and plug it in!!LOL!
