Good morning everyone. That was just heartbreaking last night. I am so proud of those guys, though, on the defense. That was just an amazing effort. The offense is a whole other story. Well, what do you do.
What kind of welder? I've been thinking about getting myself a mig/tig set up. We have some incredible welders here at the plant that are nuclear certified, and have offered to teach me how to weld.
im a fan of hobart welders and plasma cutters, as far as ones that plug in. for engine driven arc welders, nothin but an old lincoln will do. my dad is a professional welder/fabricator. he had his own business for awhile, but it was feast or famine, and he had to get a regular job again, so now he works on the cement bulk plants in wyoming for haliburton as a senior worker, which means he will be one of the last ones to get laid off, and he is the boss as far as maintenance of hardware.

well then youd have it made! the welding part is easy, oxy/acetylene takes a lot of patience and can be a pain in the butt if you dont have enough heat. arc is tricky to get goin, and again, can be a pain if you dont have enough heat. MIG or wirefeed is cake, a monkey can do it. but its also the most convenient and fastest, thus my preferred type for most applications. i prefer ark for the really heavy stuff, like pieces that are a half inch or more thick, or iron. then there is TIG, which is ideal for aluminum and appearance welds, but one type ive never used.
I have to decide between spending money on a welder, or parts for the 67. I think the welder will have to wait a while. I'm going saturday to get the lift kit and new suspension bushings. I'm still looking for a donor 78/79 for the front disc, power steering and brakes.
