Does anybody know what thread size the transfer case fill plug is or a part number? I called the local dealer and they said they weren't for sure???? '99 F-250 7.3 electric shift

I haven't ever removed mine yet. But I'm pretty sure it's the same as the plugs on the diffs. 1/2"bsp, common pipe taper thread (which appears to be about 3/4" in diameter.)

Yep, pipe size, 1/2" I think, but could be 3/8". You could get a suitable replacement at most home centers, except the wrench would be different.

Yeah, 3/8" square. Socket extension/ratchet fits directly in it.
A 1/2" pipe plug would have a square head. Just as easy.

OK, I tried the local hardware but couldn't get it to thread into anything so I thought it was metric maybe? I went to the dealership and he guessed at a number on the exploded view he thought it would be and it was correct(lucky). I will call back tomorrow and get the info in case someone else needs to know.

The part number is F81Z*7AO1O*AA and they are $4.99 each here. They are a 10 mm allen head.
