Question about Injector

I did the O ring/injector return lines kit a couple weeks ago. I had no problems but when I put the Injector line back on cylinder 5 I couldnt get the nut to thread on straight, I fumbled with it for at least 20-30 minutes and couldnt get it so I just threaded it on cross threaded, but it still bubbles fuel out. I thought the problem was the line so I ordered a new one. But still no go the new line wants to go on cross threaded. So do I need to replace the injector? Or do you guys have a trick to get the line to thread on straight. The diesel store has a new Delphi injector for $24, Ford, F-350 - FUEL INJECTION Diesel Parts Selector.
Will I be ok with that brand, or do you guys have something else you recommend. Thanks for any help.

If I was stranded I might remove the injector and try to touch up the threads with a file, but if your at the hacienda $24 is cheap enough. Regarding the brand I've got no experience w/ injectors (yet) but I've read here nothing negative about Delphi. Good luck.

If possible try to loosen the clamps and the nut at the injector side of the line so that you have some play in the line when trying to start the threads, play will allow the threads to align themselves more easily. Once EVERTHING is hooked up finger tight and straight, then go ahead and retorque everthing you loosened off. Sometimes the short cut is the longest way FWIW.

I'd have no problem touching up the threads to get the nut on straight again. It's not the threads that seal, it's the flare.
But if it's beyond repair than I'd sggest replacing all the injectors so they match. New one will probably run more efficient than your old ones.
Unless you take a new one and the 7 old ones and have them pop tested/calibrated to match.

I tried that too, it helped but not enough.

Hmmm I didnt think about the 1 new injector messing with the other 7, I guess I had better look at filing the threads to fit.

Any tips for getting the threads filled?

If you have any fine small files that you can get down in the groove of the thread. Like starmilt said a three corner or small half round would work. I have a set that they are about 6" long and most are 1/8 wide and 3/32 at the most thick. Work perfect for this kind of work. Just remember your only going to take material off where it is deformed in the valley of the thread, not the thread itself.

I had the same problem with my #8....west aussies tool solved the problem nicely....also make sure you have no debris on the line itself (I pulled the line completely off and cleaned it)...it seems the injector threads give it up before the fuel line nuts do. Another thing I found, it was easier to get the fuel line to seat with both ends only held by two threads....then seat one side by hand and tighten, then the other....this last trick worked well enough that on my fourth attempt it didnt cross thread

follow up

Well I thought I had a file set that I could use but I couldnt find it. I was about to run into town to pick one up but I figured I would fiddle with it one last time. I actually got the old injector line to seal, it went on pretty hard but its on and not leaking any fuel. But while I was checking for leaks I noticed that the heater appears to be leaking coolant, I think a rat might have chewed threw a hose but Im not sure, I need to track down the leak. Thanks for the help guys.

i had some rats or mice affecting my wifes van for awhile. I have zero patience for that ****. I laid "food" all over the tops of the tires and i havent had a problem for awhile. I noticed it when i smelled wood smoke coming from the van at a light. I jumped out at the light and poped the hood to find a smoldering pile of rat nest on the manifold. Guess it stayed warm enough for them to nest there. My kiddo has two rats so no telling him i brutally murdered probably a whole family of them. Car staying intactfor the safety of the family is more important, sorry peta lovers.

Yep sounds way to familiar. We almost lost our tractor because pack rats made a nest of cedar branches basically right under the fuel tank. Unfortunately we cant use the "food" because we have 7 dogs and it is almost a guarantee we would lose one if we started using it. I saw on discovery they have some product that somehow gets onto their fur or skin and takes like 24 hours to become deadly so when they go back to their nest they infect the nest and kill all of the mice and rats. And its non toxic to humans and pets. I wish I could get my hands on that stuff but its gotta be commercial grade.
