351 modification?
Which brings me right back to what I asked earlier when I asked what the point of this thread was.." "Maybe.... "Did this "old school guy" buy these cars already built or did he just pay someone to build them for him? Sounds to me like he has a lot of money but not that much knowledge."
Sorry ladelld33 Just think these kinda comments are unnecessary. I just posted a simple request. I wasnt specific enough, I know that but there are better ways to tell me that. I know the differences between ford small blocks and big blocks. All from reading. I have no clue what to do first to modify my truck. The most I have done to an engine are the external parts like exhaust, manifolds, carb rebuilds, distributers, water pumps. Stuff like that. I am a good body man. Just didnt like someone telling me I dont know anything when I obviously am asking for help because I dont know that much about modification. Maybe I overreacted. But I've never posted and had a person continuously put little quips in there to be rude.
I don't think these these comments were necessary or appropriate:
If you want to be rude then dont post please! Cant stand keyboard warriors! Thanks anyway man! Do me a favor doug, just dont post! plain and simple. You obviously have an attitude and I dont want to play those games. Especially when the person is know where near me. ( that's really telling there- I thought that was why we went on the WWW).
Just wanted some advice. (really? I didn't get that impression) Why insults? ( See above- or is keyboard warrior your idea of a compliment? Show me where I called you anything.)
Why did you even waste your time typing? (ditto_ you didn't ask any questions or answer any) ER- Why did you post this thread?
Thanks but I would rather get my advice from somebody else buddy!
Take note of the amount of !!!!!! in your posts. Sorry friend, but you are the one with the attitude. At least here and now. If you would read what I posted instead of trying to read between the lines you would realize I was trying to relay information to you that would be to your benefit.
This is the post I'm asking myself why I bothered typing......
Edit- Sorry- Forgot , you did ask a question- the Gt40 heads will be an improvement IF you have the run of the mill stock heads on there now. The problem was and still is that you don't know what you have. You might have GT40's on there now. And all that offense you took to me pointing out that you didn't know what you have was misdirected as well. My intent was never to suggest that you were stupid, or even ignorant, just that you DIDN'T know what you had. I would have thought you would have picked up on that when I said I didn't know what I had. The other side of that is that while you took it as some kind of attack, all I meant was that it's nearly impossible to give advice or make a plan to modify something when the base is unknown. And you still haven't given your rear end ratio-one of the main reasons for the "if you have the information you aren't divulging it " comment. Again- not meant to be derogatory- just a follow up on the post where I said people here are ready to help but need info to do so.
While I'm rambling here- The biggest pile of crap you ever posted is not being able to build a V8. If you can do everything else you posted, you can build your own motor. If you have the attention to detail required to pull off paint and body and the mechanical ability to do the other stuff you posted, you can do anything you put your mind to. I do both and know what is required.
Finally. while I'm in such a good mood- I've tried to relate this to you from the beginning, "If it ain't broke don't fix it" my advice is to leave that motor alone. It doesn't cost very much at all to get a core motor to start with- I bought my 351W with an engine stand for $200. So keep this sweet running motor the way it is-( trying to improve it is a crap-shoot anyway) and buy a core motor to build up exactly the way you want. then just swap 'em out in a week-end. You can then tear the one you have now apart and see what you got or just sell it and more than off-set the cost of the core. Otherwise, you have to tear apart a good running motor before you can even make a plan to improve on what you have.
Get it? Good.... Let's go Sparky...... ( ******* Prestone commercial)
