Not something you would want to do.

The thought was lowering the compression ratio, which is not important unless you have a turbo and are running high boost.

The proper way to lower compression is mill the pistons, not pull and delete the glow plugs.

A reliable starting engine is more important.

Personally I like the manual GP's and there are several very detailed threads on the subject in here.
I can't imagine cutting the gp's off to lower the compression it can't gain much.

im going to switch to an intake heater, im tired of glowplugs swelling and breaking in the head, plus it lowers compression so its a win win i think

When you look at what the volume of the tip you cut off is, the compression ratio can't change that much.

Branden is you want to go manual with the glow plugs that is an easy thing to do.

Remove the white wire from the relay.
Attach a wire to that terminal and run it i the cab.
Attach it to a momentary switch on one terminal.
Attach a wire to the othe rterminal and run it to a good electrical ground under the dash.
Done wiring.

Operation, turn key to on
Depress momentary switch for 10 seconds or less
Start the engine
