truck kicks over but will not start white smoke
Hey all,
Typically when cold, last night got to like 35 i think and now its about 65, the truck cranks and acts like itll start then does. some white smoke comes out but not much. This morning however, it cranked and acted like it wanted to start but wouldnt. I tried getting it to go for maybe 3 minutes with no luck. the entire time some white smoke was coming out of the exhaust. Any ideas why she wont fire?

Also, I changed the injectors a couple weeks ago and it has ran perfect since. I switched to 5w-40 full synthetic rotella for the winter and still have at least 4 of the 6000 miles between my oil changes left. I do have an egr delete kit, however the egr remained in the engine and I know they didnt clean it out. When its been plugged in, its not so bad. not plugged it makes it very hard to start. however, I dont want to have to reliant on plugging in ALL the time. That would make me nervous.

That was my first thought. Guess what! I found a diesel tech at Ford that is willing to look at it at his house and save me a bunch of money! Hey cheezit, he was also saying you can upgrade the ficms to 68v and even some to 110v i think. I was like jeeeez thats a bit much for stock injectors.
Any other possible ideas though?

First, I would not keep trying to start as the injectors need fuel to lubricate and operate... so just to keep trying to start without "doing anything different" is not wise.
I would look at the following:
1) Bad fuel pump/HFCM (mine went bad at 159,000 miles) with little warning. Would turn over but no start.
2) Non OEM fuel filter or a clogged fuel filter?
3) Bad fuel?
4) Loose or chaffing wiring harness?
5) Bad FICM (computer)?
6) Who installed your new injectors - if the dealer, I would think they would help you out for the sake of customer service.
Do you have AAA or towing on your insurance coverage. Have it towed to dealer and they can hook it up to their computer and tell you within 10 minutes what the problem is

replaced fuel filter with OEM motorcraft filter same time i did the last oil change so about 2000 miles ago. Ive used the same fuel from the same station for a few years now. I regularly drain my HFCM. That was done 2000 miles ago as well. I was driving it absolutely fine yesteday all day. I did notice that a couple days ago it did a hard start on me but it still fired up.
