I am searching for a few stock truck wheels for my Dennis Carpenter ford dog dishes.
Problem is ....what are these wheels called? I mean the tabs to hold the hub caps on should be inside the center and not on the outside of the bolt pattern.
Proford says he has a few for me,and some other guys also....but I am searching all over and all I know is to call them innies....LOL
Thanks/Bill
That's as good of a term as any, Bill! LOL
I seem to recall it was the mid 60's before Ford changed the truck wheels to "outies", so anyone who knows anything about these trucks should be able to know what you want, if asking for original style wheels for a 56 Ford pickup, with the hubcap mounting humps inside the hub indentation. It does seem to be getting harder all the time to find good, old wheels, though.
could you maybe post a picture so i can make sure the wheels i have are what you are looking for. the ones i have were on my 53 when i bought it;
They look like this picture and people are getting stupid money for them. especially the 16" rims. Another source would be Ford and Mercury passenger cars from the late '40s
I am puzzled that someone has not reproduced the early caps to go on the later style outie rims.
Well nobody is getting any ''stupid'' lots of money from this guy!! SOME HAVE ALREADY TRIED....and I won't be a sucker!!
proford1 has some for me....and I already have 7....and have 4 mountes and painted.
The problem is I have more 56 ford trucks than most anyone and I need more wheels....LOL
I can buy mag wheels for some prices around town.
The thing is....I did not know about the innie and outie styles...and considered a wheel a wheel....all were the same for these f100s.
I also have 3 16'' but will want 15''s.
I have bought and sold over 200 vehicles and wonder how many more in the future.
I hope FTE folks help each other and do not ask for stupid high prices and try to take advantage over being in the same club.....it won't happen to me......
