Help identifying wire harness

What is this wire harness under my hood? It just ends in a harness is it for a light or thermometer? Truck does not have overhead console. If this is temp probe , can I add in the overhead console? 06 F350 SD XLT. Thanks .

Use a volt meter, probe it, if it tests with volts, you got a live circuit...

Off hand, it looks more like a temp probe, but dis assembly will show if it has a bulb or not.

If it is a light, substitute a big light on it...

It isn't an IF, but IT IS a light bulb socket, just like Cheezit said! The reason it is a little bigger, because it has a "float" switch in it, so it's only ON when you open the hood.
