Picked up this 78 f350 crewcab a couple weeks ago... older guy used it to pull his 5th wheel before he passed... Factory 460 truck but he put a 429 thunder jet in it with a propane system on it.. Been sitting 7 years.. Here are some pictures when I got it..
I found the build sheet in truck.. it was a cab and chassis truck.. the man that owned it had the bed mini tubbed to fit the narrow cab and chassis dually rearend...
have not washed or done anything to the outside of truck other than get rid of the ugly running boards and put wheel covers on it.. I need to clean it up but have been busy getting the motor done..just started driving it today..
What is the rear axle? I've never seen duallies without the extended fenders.
I'd love to get that setup for my 79 F350.
Thanks
Actually, the reason it doesn't have the wide dually fenders, is because Ford didn't made a crew cab dually like this.
All of the F350 crew cabs of this vintage with a standard fleetside bed had single rear wheels. The only crew cab duallys that were made came in a cab-and-chassis version with no bed. So either someone swapped in the dually wheels (and front hubs/rotors), or somenoe added a bed to a cab-and-chassis truck.
Either way, this truck looks fantastic, it looks like that's even the original paint and in super condition.
So unless someone swapped it out, the rear end is just the the standard Dana 70 that came with the truck.
Like I said it was a cab and chassis... with a bed put on.. has a dana 70... Been repainted... cab was all green before repaint... I paid $1200 : ) but wouldn't sell it for even close to that.. I will have around $1800 in it plus my labor..
