I found this company that just started selling on ebay. The ebay name is durabuildplus77, the store name is OE Remanufactured Transmissions, and the company name in Tampa, Florida is OE Performance. I called and talked to them and they seem to be legit and offer good prices. They seem to know what they're talking about too. I was wondering if any of you had any dealings with them or heard about them before. Here's the link to ebay: E4OD E40D FORD TRUCK TRANSMISSION 2WD 4WD GAS DIESEL:eBay Motors (item 320452184524 end time Dec-01-09 14:08:42 PST)
Train- reps sent, that is one of the greatest things about this site. Thanks for offering to help a fellow member.
OP- i havent had any dealings with this company, but if you are planning on modding your truck then i wouldnt waste the money on a Reman when i could put that money towards a BTS or JW or a Racer X one. But if you need one then you need one so i understand. Hope it all works out for you.
NO CORE CHARGE, with Transgo shift kit and with torque converter all for $1189.00. I don't know how they can do it without a swapout, but if they are legit then looks like a good price to me.
It says 3 year/100K nationwide warranty. I would wonder who would honor that and if it is some kind of reimbursement if you have to have work done on it.
From what I was told the warranty isn't a reimbursement, they pay for anything that has to be done. They also have a 15 day/100 mile period before you sign the warranty papers that they use to make sure the trans is running right and doesn't have any leaks. If it does then they pay your mechanic to replace whatever seal or gasket that's leaking and if it is something internal then they send another trans to your mechanic to be installed. So it sounds pretty good. I'll think about it some more before I get ready to do it. Oh, they will warranty it even if I put it in myself but if I screw something up it's on me and not a mechanic or them. The TC is a triple disc instead of a single, the guy said there was no way he'd warranty a trans going in a diesel for 100K miles or three years on a single disc TC.
TRAINHORNMAN thanks for the offer but I'm not sure exactly where they are located. If I find out and you can take a look for me I'll let you know.
Also, while I like the idea of having a BTS trans I just don't need that kind of strength for what I do. My truck is mostly a daily driver because I love these big a$$ trucks when everyone else is going smaller and more economical that way. My truck gets better mileage than my Tundra did with a 4.7l V8. I really don't see the need to buy a gas car when my diesel will bury them all in the long run. Kinda got side tracked, the other reason I don't want a BTS is because I don't have that kind of money and have to many other things putting stress on the wallet to afford one before my current trans fries itself. Thanks for the advice though.
Shipping to Danielsville, Ga from Tampa, FL he said would be $120. Forgot to ask him how he ships it so I'll have to call after the holiday and check on that. But if everything works out I can get my trans swapped sooner than I planned (probably not sooner then my current trans planned, it's slipping pretty good). I thought about the shipping being really high to offset the price of the trans, that's why I called to ask the price before even considering it.
drivembig - He said that a guy from Atlanta ships him 10 to 20 cores pretty regular that he rebuilds. I guess the guy in Atlanta is like a friend of mine who is stupid lucky when it comes to finding rebuildable parts, only downside he's a chevy guy and can't seem to find good ford parts to save his life.
I was going to get a trans thru them about 6 months ago. I couldn't pay for it otta pocket so i had to get some money from the government (military). They checked into this company and told me that there address they had listed at the time came back to an apartment complex and would not give me the cash. But things might have changed from that time to now.
The feed back that people are leaving for them on ebay is all good so far and it all seems to be posted roughly a month after the trans was ordered, I'm assuming they waited to have some drive time on the trans.
Well keep me informed on how it comes out. At that price I wouldn't worry as much about my tranny. I'm about the same as you. My truck is a daily driver and I'll pull my camper every now and then. Nothing really stressfull. If mine goes this is something that I would be more interested in other than a BTS. Thanks for the post.

e bay feed back doesn't reflect what will happen 6 months down the road when something breaks and warranty is a hassle. I don't know anything about this company! I did deal with Phoenix re trans a few years ago who had good feed back and was an e bay power seller and was I hosed for almost $2,000.00! later found out they would buy wrecking yard transmissions clean and paint them and sell them as re man. and than make warranty such a hassle people would just give up.
I'm still thinking about it. Probably mid December before I do anything, so I'll keep looking into it. I've sent out a few messages to people that have bought from them on eBay to see what they say about their e40d. Also been looking into the paypal coverage so if I get it I can use them to get my money back if I do it (or at least part of it, if it doesn't work out). But I'll definitely keep you guys posted.
Side note: I love being able to send this from the middle of the woods while I'm walking my dog on a gorgeous day.
It would be nice to get a good trans for that price! I am getting a 4R100 for a 2001 PSD right now and the core on it is $1500.00, (the bell housing busted in half) the last E4OD I bought had a $1500.00 core, maybe it is just my location and the fact that around here these trucks get 3 to 400,000 miles before they retire so they want to get the cores back so they over price them?
For those of you wondering what my digging turned up:
1 KO Performance or OE Performance Remanufacturing (same company) used to be called Tranzmission Works. If you google the name you will find a non-functioning website and complaint sites that list customer complaints. I'll save you some time: Most of the complaints are about being rude and unprofessional (which I can deal with if they're good at what they do and are trustworthy). One complaint in particular is about how they sent a trans to a guy that was the wrong one and don't seem to want to take it back. When called about, "Mike" called the guy hard headed and hung up on him. The guy took it to the ford dealership who gave him a letter stating that the trans he had never went in any year or body style of the truck he owned (I wish the guy was more detailed on truck and trans).
Supposedly the guy "Mike" used to own Tranzmission Works and is now working for or is a silent partner with the guys that own OE Performance Remanufacturing.
I don't think that I can trust people who are unprofessional, won't stand behind what they sold me and are not even a member of atra (automatic transmission re-builders association) as claimed. If they are not a member of atra, than how does their warranty work nationwide? Too many questions, not enough answers and some answers I really don't like. Unless I call atra tomorrow and they confirm they are members even though their website doesn't and that their warranty is valid nationwide, then I won't even consider buying from them unless someone else is paying the bill or I win the lottery (but then I'd buy a BTS trans).
