Leaf Springs Question

I have a 80 F100 2WD and I want to drop the rear 2 inches. In the LMC catalog, they offer a shackle kit for 83-96. Item No. is 45-2621 on page 47 of their latest catalog. Are the leaf springs different on 80-82? Thanks.

Nobody Knows? LMC doesn't.

the 80 - 81 trucks were experimental. best you could do is bust out a tape measure and compare.

I removed my rear springs and took them to a spring shop and had them re-arched. They could make them what ever i wanted. I also purchased shackles from DJM for an additional drop.

I don't know what's different about them, but I went to Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and looked up your spring, and they only listed the 80-81 as a interchange.

Thanks guys, it's strange but must be true. I guess I'll pull a leaf out and live with it. Do any of our other vendors have drop shackle kits? I appreciate your help. Terpfords, was the re-arching expensive? I'm just looking for a level stance.

No, it was not expensive especially considering I could have lowered it what ever amount i wanted to. It cost $35 a spring and the shackles cost around $50 plus shipping. The shackles from DJM can either lower 1 or 2 inches. I intended to lower it 4",but was skeptical the spring shop could get it at 4", so I had them lower 3" and purchased the shackle kit to allow adjustments if needed. Turns out they nailed it.
