On my 04' Explorer,,now and then the Brake light in the dash will come on,,,,then goes out,,,comes back on randomly,,,Any ideas?
Same light as when the E-brake is on,,,,but it is completely off!
2nd question,,,Now and then it does'nt want to shift into Park,,like something binding the shift lever,,,,,then the issue goes away for a while,,,,seems to be getting worse,,,any ideas?,,,,,thanks,,,Mark
If the master cylinder level is low you either have a leak in the system or worn linings. You'll want to inspect the lining thickness before just adding fluid to top off the master cylinder. Catch the thin pads now rather than when they start eating in to your rotors.
Also make sure you are not driving with the parking brake pedal partially pushed. Since the light is intermittent that's probably not the issue.
We are all assuming you are referring to the red "Brake" indicator rather than the amber "ABS" indicator.
Not sure about the brake issue and it may not be the same but there was a TSB on the tranny that would not come out of park on some models. Ford replaced some of my linkage.
