Question Defrosting Windsheild

Freezing rain, sleet, snow - as winter approaches has anyone had issues with the wipers freezing up? Once I start and thaw out my 06 F250 King Ranch w/6.0 Power Stroke, I'll scrape the windsheild and break the ice off the wipers themselves. With the heater on auto the lower outside portion and left and right sides of the windsheild gradually gets slushy which then freezes on the wipers. The wipers then smear the ice up the glass. Eventually the wipers are encrusted in ice necessitating a stop to clear the ice. If I switch to manual defrost it does a better job of keeping the windsheild clear but then the floor of the cabin is freezing cold. Switching to manual combo defrost/floor will not keep the windsheild clear.

I plow all winter. One thing that I have learned is to wear a t shirt and roast. I leave the defrost on high the entire time when plowing. Anything less just melts and freezes. I plow mostly with the side windows down about 1/2 way.

I used to do the freeze your butt off thing. Never turn your heat on so nothing can melt and freeze, it just blows off with the breeze. Getting too old to be cold all the time.
