charging system problem

charging system problem

ok this time my battery light flicks on and off unless i keep my headlight on. i checked the voltage with just power on and then engine on and the voltage is correct. the alternator is only about six months old. im thinking a grounding problem somewhere but just want some other opinions. thanks

Make sure the ground under the regulator mounting screw is good and clean and connected.

Mine just started doing the same thing today. Do you have a picture of where this screw is for me to check? Anything else I should look at?

What condition are the batteries in?

With weak batteries you see the lights getting brighter and dimmer as the alternator speeds up and slows down.

Could also be a bad ground or connection in the alternator wiring.
