So I am new here, been around on another board for some time, i do have a question that applies here. I have an 04 F250 SD Lariat. It has the dash switch (ESOF i presume) for 2wd, 4wd-hi, 4wd-low, but hubs that require turning. The outside ring has an indention (for i assume engaged) but there are no other markings to let you know if its a Lock/Auto/Disengaged situation. Do you guys know if they are Auto/Lock or Unlocked/Locked. I assume i can just go and try them both ways.
As well to reiterate what was previously posted.
Clockwise regardless is Locked (both sides)
Counter (Unlocked/Auto, if applicable)
I bought the truck a few months ago but no manual or anything with it. Thanks guys and sorry for any inconv.
I have a 04 also. The switch on the dash is the ESOF system. The hubs should say auto and lock on them. Turn the hub to the left (Auto) and when you need 4x4 just turn the switch on the dash, vacuum will engage the hubs. It is a good idea to engage the ESOF switch before you get stuck. If you do get stuck and the truck will not move, no problem, just turn the switch to 4x4 and get out and manually lock the hubs by turning them to the right (lock) position. I like the ESOF system but there is some maintenance you have to keep up on so they will work correctly. The hubs are interchangeable so it is always left to auto and right to locked. Hope this helped.
