Instrument cluster
We have a 1989 Big Bronco. The instrument lights, the tach and the volt gauge no longer work. This is also causing the vehicle to shift at high speeds. The instrument lights went out last week. Today we changed out the steering column and the new symptoms developed.

For the shifting problem, I would pull the codes from the computer. You may have a speed sensor problem. For the instrument lights, I would check the fuse for those. If the fuse is good it may be a bad headlight switch.
Of course any of this could be caused by wires being pinched during installation. If you are unsure about the new column, unplug it and see what happens then.
